Female-Driven Gennaro Supports Strong Women, Strong Girls

Woman-led company proud of breaking into Rhode Island's "old boys' club".

Stefanie Taylor of Cranston, RI turned her family jewelry store into an instrument for social change – and got a Fifth Avenue showroom in the bargain. Taylor is the owner and president of Gennaro Inc., a successful jewelry maker that is owned and managed by women; women also make up 95 percent of the workforce. Gennaro, which recently opened a retail showroom on NYC’s Fifth Avenue, has launched a new collection called “Look Fabulous, Share Confidence” — bold jewelry that celebrates female empowerment and incorporates words like “strong” and “confident” to encourage more women and girls to “shoot for the stars,” says Taylor. Ten percent of net profits will go towards supporting women mentors for young girls through the nonprofit, Strong Women Strong Girls.
